We have a K11 Micra CVT automatic and forward gear failed us on a roundabout. The breakdown mechanic told us that whilst reverse gear was working, forward gears were not due to a serious gearbox problem.
The local garage was unable to effect a repair and a nearby Automatic Gear Box specialist have stopped repairing CVT transmission units due to the scarcity and almost unavailability of spare parts. They also said there are additional electronic parts that will need to be replaced in order to install the new gear box, but we don't know what those are or if they are obtainable.
Is it still possible to get the car repaired and be cost effective? What are the other electronic parts required? Our insurers have valued our car at £350.
