K11 accelerator pedal too hard

The accelerator pedal is hard work.
Read the thread above. But what I'd really like to know is:
Is it the cable or the pedal that needs the attention?

I've just seen this link for a 1300cc.

Mine is a 1000cc. Should be same or similar.

I will do the simple checks first and lube it up.

If I do have to replace the cable, do I disconnect the acclerator pedal linkage and pull out from the engine bay or pull the engine end into the passenger cabin.

engine bay danny, and fit the pedal end first then the t/b end (reverse for removing tho)
