Intelligent Key

hello there everyone
I brought a 04 Nissan micra SE 1.4 at the weekend.
It has these intelligent key things.
They car will start fine there is no problems there, it recognises the key is anywhere nearby and will start.
But the car will only unlock if I press the button on the remote key.
It won't unlock just by the key being near by and pressing the button on the handle.
What could the problem be here?
I'm only guessing it's not the battery as it starts without the key in the ignition.

Hi,

Have you tried to unlock the car using the buttons on all the handles around the car, boot, passenger door etc? Also if you unlock the car with the key, does the car lock with the buttons on any of the handles ?

My passenger door does not unlock with the button on the door handle but does if I hold the unlock button on the key fob.

If your other door buttons will not unlock the car then you can disable the anti hijack mode of the intelligent key which will enable you to walk up to any door and press a button which will unlock all the car doors.
