Intake manifold..

Guys just need some experience and pointers here.. whats the main effect of modifying your intake manifold bigger and longer? does it gives better response? well our stock k11 intake manifold just below the throttle seems rather small? is worht it to tailoer make one new set with bigger canister? or it is more worth it just by polishing the interior of our stock manifold and smoothen it.. ? what kind of gains do we get from both? i', using a GA 15 Throttle body thou.. any pointers?

I was just thinking of enlarging the intake side f the manifold to the engine with bigger and smoother diameter holes to enhance the air flow.. will it be good guys?
