My car (L reg) has an immobiliser, looks like a small jack plug which goes into the dash next to the steering wheel. I have never used it as there is only one key, and I know I'd lose it! Can you get spares or are they stupidly expensive?
it's not a standard immobiliser, you'd have to find out the manufacturer and contact them for a replacement. but if you're not using it,surely the car wouldn't start. maybe it's not wired in?
