Ignition barrel

Hi,

Super S on an L plate. The problem is the car keeps cutting out and 99% sure its the ignition barrel. Is it likely that the whole barrel will need changing or is it possible to change the switch on the back and cure the fault? Would realy like to keep the origional keys.

I've had a few that cut out if you wiggle the key in the ignition lock when its running.
Ive got away with changing the ignition switch alone. The plastic centre that the ignition lock turns wears.
