Hubs

I have been informed that my 1985 hubs have 'shimmed' bearings....(a pain to adjust)

but that my 1992 hubs use a bearing kit/assembly for adjustment...


my questions are

1. is this the case?
2. (if it is) are the rear axle and the front wishbones the same for both types of hub....


thinking of doing a swap...

your early ones should be taper bearings rich, adjusted by a castlenut and splitpin (perfectly good design )

I much prefer this style setup because you generally will not need a press to replace the bearings and you can pack them with whatever type of grease you want, like a high performance synthetic grease.

so you reckon I should keep teh 1985 hubs in favor of teh 1992 ones?....this would save me some grief...?
