hi my front breaks are sticking on my micra the callipers have been dismantled cleaned re sealed and put back on new break hoses and the breaks are still sticking any one know does the master cylinder give bother on them ??
if you've done all this and still stick... then the master cylinder might need a next go... thought might not be but checke the pad guides for rust and clearance too.
since I was a brat in a Fiat, the biggest problems with single caliper brakes are ..
1/ the guide or pads stick
2/ the piston sticks in the caliper .
1 is easy to fix ,clean , file pads if required and lub , but 2 needs the piston to be pumped out till the fluid seal is nearly visible , use some pads as a stop , wipe clean the piston , smear on brake fluid , push the piston back in .
On the Mcra the dust seal is a bit fiddly but just pumping out the piston and lubbing it with brake fluid via a hypodermic did the trick for me .
the master cylinder should not be a problem imho...... waits to be corrected !!!!!
we done all of this pistons have been cleaned re lubed sliders sanded and lubed with copper grease but still sticking it seems just to be the drivers side now.
make sure the pads move ok in the caliper , the rust and grime builds up and jam the pads , make sure the pads are a "sloppy" fit , ie not tight , you may need to take a file to the caliper to clean it up as a wire brush wont clear the rust , also are the pads worn flat so that the piston is sitting flat as it pushes .
stangley ( i have been told by a garage ) its always the drivers side that sticks ?????
