Help: Rear strut brace issues

Hi everyone,
I've fitted a NodSpeed Rear Strut Brace according to the fitting instructions but for some reason the off-side is slightly loose. I've done it up as tight as i can but its still loose.

can you fill in with washers ?

i've put 2 washers each side so far

Just one side is loose? You are sure both sides are the same? Two washers on each. Is the nut tight, or just spinning with the shock?
Has anyone else had this issue?
I would try another M10 washer under the nut. It has worked fine in my car but there may be some discrepancy in thread length?

just one side is loose, I clamped the shock with mole grips but it wont go any tighter it just spins in the mole grips

both shocks packed the same under both sides of the shell body ?

as far as i know they are

would enough thread be left up top if you put a few mm more evenly under each side ?
