Help--Front side lights come on when braking!!

Morning all,

As it says in the title, my friend has a silver S reg 1.0 litre micra and that has just developed this problem of the front side lights coming on when braking!!
Its funny to watch but he has had people pulling out in front of him as he brakes as they think he has flashed them!!! :suspect:

Anyone know of a fix or what this might be?

Could be a bad earth or a dodgy connection on one of the brake light bulbs. Try removing the brake light bulbs and refitting them again.

ether there a single filament bulb were there should be a double
or one of the rear bulbs is not in correctly

all the rear lights use the same earth
if it was it would do it when using other rear lights eg reverse fog

Sounds like the brake lights are connected to the tasil light bulb so when you brake it lights up the main light circuit. Check your rear clusters for broken wires etc
