head problems

:k10: hi looks like ill be doing the head gasket this week ill be getting the head skimmed as well what i want to know is can i leave the exhuast manifold in place or do they put the whole thing on a milling machine ?so that it can be totally flat+square?thanks

u will need 2 take it off and the inlet manifiold as well i think u also need 2 strip the head down all 2getter take the valves as well i think

You should be able to leave the valves and springs in place, you will definately have to remove both manifolds. i would speak to the machine shop, they will advise you on what you need to remove as different machines bolt to the head in different ways. If you are doing the head gasket I would reccomend doing the valve stem seals at the same time, so you might as well strip everything down.
