Well i had a go at fitting a car alarm today which has remote start with it. 10hrs later and the stupid thing still doesnt work. The alarm side works and its a good alarm but the remote start doesnt work. so i gave up.

Being a Electrician is hard but if i was to become a Auto Electrician it gotta be the worst job to do.

not a very happy Andy.

poor andy, remote starts are a pain in the the arse due to the immobiliser!!

My question is......what's wrong with using a key ??

lol

i aint got a immobiliser on mine. it comes with the alarm. 1994 Micra L Model.

Its so that i can warm the car up in the morning and keep the car alarmed and get the car warm so i can drive straight away in warmth :)

Good plan, I just drive freezing my tits off for the first few miles....then all is good. I couldn't do that on mind coz i have to give mine a few revs for a bit over wise it cuts out.....throttle body me thinks :(

Not related but have you removed the steering lock, if you haven't whats the point of a remote start?

If there's no immobiliser then remote start should be pretty easy, j.a.kelly did a basic one for me, there may be something wrong withthe actual alarm.

remote start just means the car is running with alarm on. you cant actually drive the car because if u touch the handbrake or accelerator etc it shuts down and sets siren off. You put the keys in to drive still.

I've always wondered what happens when you trigger a remote start and you've left the car in gear... As I leave mine in gear most of the time lol, it's just become a habit.

I've got images of a K11 jolting down the road itself... ;)

Andy can you help me?!

Mines on a k10 (alarm) but i still havent worked out how to get the hazards wired up to the alarm. The haynes is quite confusing too! How and where did you connect your lights to the alarm unsure if it'll be the same but worth a try.:wasntme:

thats what will happen but its got a sensor to tell itself if its in neutral. :)

Its only a suggestion........but with things like remote start, you should really leave it to the professionals. You could quite easily injure someone if it goes wrong. If it doesnt work after 10 hours, your obviously not doing something fundamentally right.

Agree with Retepetsir, took j.a.kelly minutes to show me how to fit a basic push button start on mine and his, still needed key for electrics, never got round to doing that but he did..

From what I remember all we did was add some wired to the ignition connector block from a relay (lost diagram), If I find it I will post up.

its alright i had work mates on the job also and couldnt get it working. i think i blown the chip inside. ah forget remote start lol. The alarm works mint anyway and worth the £78 i paid for it anyway. Just leave the remote start cant i and save up for a clifford Cat 1 :)

when i get the new install put in my focus im going to get the biggest bad ass alarm in the world lol
