Gearbox breather hose, Micra 1.4 SE (2001)

What is the breather hose from the gearbox attached to at its other end, which is curved like a hook? Would it be the carbon canister? Haynes manual doesn't show it. Thanks in anticipation!

Nothing that end is open. Its a vent pipe without anything attached to it except from the gearbox ofcourse.

Thanks for the reply. If it is just a vent pipe, why does it need to be so long, and routed up from the gearbox to near the airbox? The carbon canister has some hoses attached to all except one small pipe, which is open to atmosphere, Is this normal?

Yes its normal. If its short fluid could splash out.
