Gear knob issue

Basically I've bought a lovely Nismo gear knob which can thread on to 10/12mm by 1.25 but when I've removed the old original gear knob (a struggle due to glue) the gearstick has no thread on it! Slight pain. I can machine a sleeve to resolve this but has anyone else came across this? Am I missing something?

I suppose that you could run am M10 or M12 die (depending on the diameter) down the top of the gear lever...........It would be the best 'engineering' solution

I will measure it later, would be much easier running a die down than machining a sleeve! Thanks for the response mate, much appreciated.

I agree with John on this one. Easiest, cheapest and safest is to make treads to gear lever.
