gear box prob

driving nicely along the motorway earlier in 5th lifted off and it popped out of gear though hmm strange put it back in and it did it again (when i lifted off) and did it all the way home anyone know wot the prob is

more than like the fifth gear synchro has gone or going,

you could get just the 5 gear synchro hub etc replaced and be done with that, or you could get the 5 gear synchro hub etc replaced and then all the "easy" bearings done at the same time to save money later, as the bearings in the k10 gearboxs dont last for a very long time

or get another gearbox

ok now it doesnt like goin into 1st and when u put it in reverse u actually have to hit it to get it out?? could this be new oil needed or clutch

you need a new gearbox mate.

It sounds like a problem with the linkage or possibly the front and/or rear engine mount. Get under the car and check the shifter linkage rods for excessive play.

Main bolt that holds the gears together sounds loose, an easy fix if the gearbox has an access plat on the end of it. This happened to me before on another car. Is your gearbox original?

does anyone know why the later models had such an over complicated rear engine mount as the boxi put on didnt and was alot easier goinin than coming out

they werent they were very different
