fuel pump swap

Does anyone know the differences between the fuel pump on a "E" reg black front grille k10 and the fuel pump on a "G" facelift k10 there are 3 pipes on each pump but they are differently laid out,I need to put the E reg pump on the G reg k10.

the newer fuel pump has a fuel return built into the pump.

as on the older Hitachi carbs (found on the pre facelift) the fuel return used to be on the carb itself so the old fuel pumps had only 2 pipes

when the car was updated the fuel return was moved to the pump itself and then the carb had only a fuel in pipe.

sounds about right as you do see the odd pre facelift with the 3 pipe fuel pump, mine which is a 1989 had the 3 pipe pump :)
 
Thanks for the info, I managed to work out the fuel in/fuel out and the return on the pump, the suspected faulty pump has screws around the top of the pump so it can be stripped down,the one off the old k10 is sealed and has the 3 pipes in a different order,it runs ok and hopefully cures the fuel starvation problem that I had.
