Hey guys, my girlfirend has an R reg k11, and as things stand she has no idea when to fill up and how much. The fuel guage sticks, and sometimes just reads completly random amounts of fuel. As the car is used daily for the uni commute, she has to fill up each week making the problem worse. So can anyone help with a dodgy fuel gauge, that has a mind of its own? thanks msc

from what ive read is there something under the back seats? and i also read its not an easy fix? can anyone help

to test the gauge you could try unplugging the sensor connector above fuel tank, ign on and short out the sensor pin to simulate between low resistance (full tank) & high resistance (empty tank) and see if the gauge responds. if the gauge is faulty, the fuel & temp gauge section of the cluster can be removed and replaced from another cluster while keeping the tacho & speedo/milage section in place.
