Hi All,

I know this has been covered but have been getting conflicting opinions and info. I am looking at some 16cm 6.5" inch pioneer splits with crossovers. They r a great price and are pretty decent. People on here say that the front will only take 6" inch speakers. I wont be using grills as am going stealth look. Any assistance asap would be appreciated as I want to install system today.

Cheers All

its not always a direct screw in fit anyway, often the speakers will come with some plastic collars that will help with installation...

what you need to be more concerned with is how deep they are, or they'll get in the way of your windows

i have clarion 6 or 6.5inch in, i'm not sure which, but you should be able to fit them in pretty easily

I'm using 6.5" splits in my doors - they're the jaycar kevlar 6.5" ones and they even have holes that line up with the stock ones. I guess not all 6.5" ones will be alike but you can always make adaptors. I had to space mine out from the door as they were too deep. I'd say you'd probably need to do the same with yours if you were to do it.

Edit: Damn you smidge for beating me :p

Cheers mate, swift reply really appreciated. Going down to grab them now. Bloody public holidays, nowhere open.

My system:

Pionere head unit
6.5 inch pioneer splits in front
6.5 inch sony 4 ways in rear
4 channel sony amp
8 inch crossfire sub

All stealth factory look, under standard speaker grills.

First mods. Will be done by end of today

Cheers

Umm if you're going to have to space them out much more than about 10-15mm you'll need to cut out the centres of the standard grills as they won't sit flush if the speakers poke out too much. Though thinking about it i'm basing that off my crappy LX grills, and the super-S ones do allow for a bit more depth so you might get lucky actually.. I take it you've got a Super-S based on your name, or do you just wish you've got one? haha..

Let us know how you go ;)

the micra is one of the easier cars to install speakers into

put in some sound mat deadening while you're there

a 4 channel amp for your speakers and a mono block for the sub is the way to go i reckon :D

i've had best results with a 10" sub as far as space/bass/clarity goes

Ah damn, that's a shame. It'll work out eventually though.
