flush tailgate

i am planning on smoothing off the tailgate on the micra, and as a few of you have had it done i would be greatful for any help. I have read threads on how this is done and get the welding/fibreglassing/filling etc, just is there tips you can give me on top of the basics to make the job alot smoother?(pun not intended!)

can u not get them fibreglass sheets the just require fitting. then the edges blending in?

seen them for corsa's etc
