Fitting Strut Brace

Just tried fitting strutt brace to my k11, the brace doesn't quite fit over both the struts! Is there any other solution other than just to file the holes down so they're a little bigger and fit over?

if there's no adjuster nut, then ,with the strut top nuts off, two 12mm nuts per side, slightly tap the black strut tops with a hammer to move them whichever way you need, there's a bit of give either way with em.
