Cisco what are yours made from. From memory steam pipe ??
Whitey has developed a leak just post where they all join and pre the front exhaust flange. Mine are stainless steel but until we remove, take the heat wrapping off will not know . Maybe cracked along a weld.
See Cisco you are not the only one that has the dreaded evil eye looking down upon them.Agghhh !!!!

my dump pipe is prone to cracking as well..mostly due to engine flex and what not..even with a flexpipe on the exhaust..no good

you might want to see if you can somehow brace it to a mount on the engine somewhere

Interesting. I have a flex. coupling on the exhaust as well but I guess with all those horses raring to go it still has too much flex.
I was well giving it a good workout yeterday arvo up the back of Burnie on some tight twisty seconadry roads and was up and down through the gears and boost.
This morning when I strated her up whoa!! woke the whole street.Man you should hear the snap crackle pop when you back off the gas pedal.

Standrad ones.Year of motoring will happen. Just a wee set back.

Mabye upgrade to the Nismo solid rubber mounts.

Or buy some stuffed mounts and make them up using Flexane..

Damn! Bad luck white knight.

Yeah mine are steam pipe. Been lucky, no major leaks yet, but my very very old original exhaust manifold did crack, but it was a bad design though.

My new setup has a custom brace to support the turbo, because they thought than the manifold alone would have too much strain placed on it without.

Hopefully this is just a minor thing like a crack etc that you can weld up and perhaps yeah look at increasing the bracing or something..

Could it be the heat wrap on the manifold heating up the welds and destroying them?

When I bought my manifold I was advised not to wrap it but to have it heat coated on the inside and outside.

Oh also by the way, s-shortcake's extractors have a small leak somewhere too. And they had been wrapped in that heat tape stuff too..

They seem to have a small leak where the left-most runner has been modified to clear the alternator. Its a pretty dodgy weld job been done. Want to get that all remade up nice and smooth soon.

I am sure the heat shield stuff adds to the amount of retained heat in the manifold but I cannot be without it as the extractors run so close to everything such as the supercharger, piping to and from the intercooler.
I am hoping its just a weld joint but will certainly look at ways of extra bracing.

Could you make some shields instead?

Or perhaps wrap the heat shield loosely and only around the pipes, not the joins?

Im not even sure how much truth there is in the heat shield destroying welds but the guy that made and installed my exhaust system told me not to use it.

Thanks for all the advice. As usual when you post a query get plenty of replies which is why this site is so good.
Car now down at my mechanic and we will rip all the heat insulation off and see where the hole is.
Will look into maybe going with heat shielding if possible and looking at ways to extra brace but I have a really substancial flex.joint just post the exhaust flange which should take up 90% of the flex.
Anyway lets see where the hole is first. Maybe just a bad weld.
Gee it sounded good driving down to his place. Rounding up cars and then backing off Whitey was sure going snap crackle pop. Sounded like a full race/rally car. A few of them around at the moment as the Burnie tarmac rally which is a prelude to Targa about to get under way. All the big guns down for it including Jim Richards and the White Bros. who won last year in their Lamborghini.
It all happens in Tassie.

Happy days. No hole and a 5 minute fix.Where my extractors come together as 4 pipes and just before the exhaust flange they fit inside a slip joint ( 4 slightly larger pipes which then become one pre the exhaust flange.)
The slip joint is a really snug fit ( some gentle tapping required) and what really holds the two togethjer is a high tensile heavy duty spring.
Well with the supercahrger change over the extractors had to be removed and when put back the spring was not.
So back to the year of motoring.

That's an awesome solution. Well done, yeah thought they were pretty new to be cracked already.
