Exhaust Headshield (not manifold)

Basically the big metal heatsheild above the two centre boxes (or secondary cat on pre-2000 micras) what exactly is its purpose? what is it protecting?

Also is it safe to remove it?

as mine is causing me trouble :/ lol

i junked mine last month, left the tank shield on tho :grinning:
