engine temperature lights

Hi everyone, recently bought a 1.5 diesel sport micra beautiful machine. but the blue engine cold engine light doesn't come on, Could anyone help as I am worried this same light that turns red if engine is overheating might not work either.

Does the light illuminate when you first turn key and then go out or not at all. Might be the light its self.
It should stay on once your vehicle starts till the engine has warmed up.

Other than that someone with more experience of dash cluster lights will help you further shortly.

Should the petrol also have a cold light?

Mine has green light not blue but a different cluster style on mine to the diesel I guess it depends mine is the older one

Only really need to worry if its red

hi there,
the light is red for a few moments along with the other lights, but does not come on blue when engine is cold even with the freezing weather we have had. could there be two bulbs that do this?

Thanks for any advice i intend to keep the micra for a long time as its as much fun as my old mini cooper years ago!!!!
