Engine Management Codes Not Recording.

Hi Folks,

I have a 2005-220 Micra K12 1.0lt automatic, fully serviced but will persist in not revving and stalling.

The non-revving occurs at all speeds but can be overcome usually by booting it!

What is proving most problematic is the management system is not showing any codes at all, no warning light.

As a test, I removed the MAF sensor and started the car but still no warning light, so I have no idea where the fault lies?

The car has been checked by 2 mechanics and the AA but none of them can be sure where the problem is located which is a real pain.

Has anyone come across this before, please?

It will accelerate quickly to over 60mph but flutters if I come off the throttle a small amount and will kangeroo badly at times.

The throttle body has been cleaned and the Lamba sensor replaced along with another sensor about a year ago.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Hi Immy,

Thanks very much for the reply.

I did go to a specialist garage but they couldn't get the codes either.

Why would removing a MAF not cause a fault to show?

Did the specialist garage in question have access to run live data? Many garages will just have a fancy obd reader which will just read codes stored.

Live Data allows you to view vehicle sensor, switch and relay inputs in real time, while the engine is running. This will provide a more accurate reading of what's going on when the issue presents itself.

Hi Immy,

I suspect that is was just a fancy reader.

I agree live data would be much more likely to find the problem.
