Does anyone know where I can get one of these...? (dCi inlet hose)

Hi Everyone,

As I'm new to this forum I'd better try and get off on the right footing so to each and every one of you, happy New Year!

If you can see in the picture, this inlet hose on my 2004 K12 1.5 dCi is a bit the worse for wear and has gone 'soft' and started to weep a bit.

The main stealers tell me that this completely removable rubber hose doesn't come separately and so I need to shell out £114 + VAT for a replacement. Now that is by far the most expensive rubber hose I have yet come across and I have absolutely no intention whatsoever of funding their January bonus so does anyone happen to know

a) if a replacement is available separately? and from where?
b) is there a suitable alternative perhaps from another application which has the same bore & bend?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello and a happy new year to yourself! :D

I'd go have a siffle around a scrap yard.... £114 :O .... Ridonkulous x

Ordinarily, you can expect to be fleeced by the dealer but when the item is a clearly detachable rubber hose and I am told I need to pay for the rest of the engine in order to get it as "it doesn't come separately" (!!!!!!!!!!!) it hurts just that little bit more :(

I was wondering if anyone had tried to match the profile and make up a section with a quality silicone hose. If not, then I may give this a go myself.

Keep you posted...

If this particular hose is part of the k9k engine have you looked at Renault for it? Surely a clio, modus or megane may have the exact same hose?

My dad recently found an online store that does "automotive consumables" loads of interesting stuff including trim clips, tubs of grease and im sure various lengths and types of piping and hoses ^_^

Welcome, by the way :p

Good luck

Yes, it's the rubber hose connected to the part (a Renault badged item) "4" in the supplied exploded view. The hose is held with a spring clip (at the top end at least) but the main dealer says that it can only be ordered as part of the 'complete' unit. By the price I presume they mean the rest of the car! ;)

I was just wondering if I'd been given the true story by the dealer. Thanks Jen319, I can probably make up a profile of the hose from silicone tube which should be better quality than the OEM item but was looking to save myself the hassle of doing so if I can get the original hose separately. I shall give Renault a whirl and see if they can be of more help although I have my doubts...

It's worth a try, if all else fails a low mileage scrapped engine (micra/note/clio/modus) could at least tide you over until a better option comes up...or when you have time/patience to fiddle with a silicone hose to make it fit ;)
