WOW!! just got back from the D1 drift event at silverstone!! my god was it good.. iv watched the DVDs and read the mags but nothing beets the real thing!!

anynone else go?? i met a guy called will had a red micra with MSC stickers.

Top day!!! still buzzing from it!!
 
Hi mate,

I went to the D1 1st event on 11th April last year I believe... which was also at Silverstone. :) I was hanging around with Matt Steele in his old 200SX S14 pre-facelift.... and my mate Jon who has an R33 who rebuilt his rear diff. :)

It's quite an event.... but I suspect it's been even bigger this year as drifting becomes more popular. :)

I was there today.

The Kazama vs McNamara drift battle was very intense.
McNamara should've won that battle but I suppose D1GP had to please the Japanese fans back home.

BTW, McNamara is an Irish drifter hence why it was interesting to watch him competing against pros from Japan.

Regardless of that it was the best event of the year.

Managed to get a picture with the DRIFT KING (Tsuchiya) :D

You probably went to Autoglym drift champion comp.
This is the REAL DEAL organised by D1 of Japan. ;)
It was the first time ever in UK.
 
The Kazama vs McNamara run was awsome!! i was in the BDRC stand and everyone was cheering him on!! if there was a trophie for man of the drift "so to speak" he wins hands down!!

camera was bust so no photos :( but i got everyones signatures.. also ####ed miself when sumopowers 350Z lost its bumper!! :p

I was there too, that Darren McNamara really kicked ass. He ought to ship his car to Irwindale for the first round to kick some yankee ass and have another go at Kazama's ass if they ever meet again. Will definately go again, at the moment still too busy downloading photos from the internet and getting money to develop my 6 35mm films

I didnt go but I read up on Phil Morrisons account of things (from sxoc with the lush s14a). the basically rebuilt his car in time for him to compete, but apparently he was sooo knackered he didnt perform too well bless him
 
Anybody still thinking about the D1 event 10 days after, I still have to a degree that I have just started a Japanese language class on Tuesday, when I started, I do look like there the only Option reading, D1GP, Super GT worshipping student in the class.:k11yellow

I don't think I could get the D1GP thing out of my head...
 
That will be a must visit, I guess it will be held at Comas territory as there are a few French drivers in the series, otherwise I hope it will be in the UK, fingers crossed...
 
i thought the best part of the d1 was when ken nomura and the greddy silvia had there battle and kept getting 50:50 draws,
i agree that darren should have won that battle, he was robbed
i felt a bit small though when i pulled in the car park and parked my little k11 shape in between an s14 and a skyline
all good fun though
mayde next time someone should organise an MSC convoy, up there

Any idea which country will be hosting it? There's no info about it on www.supergt.net/en
That's got to be 10x more exciting to watch than BTCC etc...

BTW, next we'll have the first National D1GP Championship.

the 2 blokes said on Motors TV about 3 weeks ago when the last race was on. Something like the Super GT owners where looking to expand the series. They already race in China, America and indonisa and where looking for a good course in europe.

They only way i can see the Super GT though racing in this country is if they combine events with D1GP because i dont think the JGTC on its own could pull the crowd levels in they would be after
