Cuts out when starting cold

Hi,
I'm new here. My wife has a 2003 micra 1l. When you try to start it from cold, it fires and runs but the revs drop and it cuts out unless you give it some throttle....Any ideas?

the fast idle waxstat can seize on the earlier k11,s (covered in previous threads) some pics of your throttle body might help ?.
(assuming yours is,nt a k12)

I'm guessing it's a K12 as the throttle body is inside the airbox, there is no throttle cable.....

I don't think it's the timing chain as there is no noise and the engine runs perfectly when it's warm, I'm thinking that it could be a temprature sensor (telling the ECU it's warmer than it really is) I'll try to get it on one of the computers at work this week....
