custom inlet manifold

I really have little to no idea where to start. Is there a suitable manifold from another car that can be modified?

What makes the standard inlet manifold so restrictive?

What sort of gains can be seen using a direct replacement weber with a better designed inlet manifold?

Have a search of the forums for some manifold advice and gains.

if you look at the standard one, you can see the pipes go backwards, away from the head, before turning back the opposite way. A non restrictive manifold should have straight pipes from the carb(s) to the head.
