crankhaft sensors

Hello Everyone
i have just joined this foum and hoping for a few answers to my questions
Does anyone know if its possible to fit a different type of crankshaft sensor to my k12 1.2 Micra, just mainly because of price and availability of other sensors:

i think the cam and crank sensor are the same john (if you want to try swapping them ?)
you are aware of chain issues on the early CR engines tho i guess ?

Hi Frank

I'm guessing the chain has been replaced over time , my car is a 2003 there is no apparant noise of the chain and the car drives like new ,
im also thinking the sensors are on the same diagnostic code so could be either that are playing up , but when i disconnect the crank sensor the car starts ok with limited power but reconnecting causes it to be very difficult to get going
Will post a reply when i get a new sensor to rectify the problem.
