Compatibility of K11 and K12 radios?

My wife has a K11 Micra (X reg) with a radio cassette, and I have a K12 Micra ('06) with radio-CD. I would like to swap them over (yes, I heard how hard the K12 one is to get out!), but before I start I'd like to know if they are compatible. Any thoughts?

You will be better off with a aftermarket system, if memory serves me right the K12 systems are coded to the NATS system. Also your car is on the cut over point when the wiring to the headunits changed, it is most likely you have the older wiring system so they won't be compatible that way as well.

Definitely invest in an aftermarket - even a cheapish (£100ish) one will be better than the stock radio.

As for the K12 one, it's really easy to remove! Couple bits of trim pop out, 3 bolts, 2 screws and you're done! You don't even need a fasica adapter, but may need a wiring loom adapter.
