Cisco, the suspense was killing me, so my mate radek (rolling shell on the forum) and i decided to install the lsd gearbox. everything went very smoothly, the box bolted in with no real hassles. the driveshafts on the other hand were an absolute biatch to get in. it seems that the driveshaft on the drivers side is not the one to suit that gearbox. the part that actually slots into the gearbox is far too long and is pushing against the pin inside the lsd. when we put the oil in, it obviously started to leak. i need to get the correct driveshaft to suit. do you have the part numbers by any chance,or know how i can get a hold of them? do you know if they are still in production?
any help would be much appreciated!

im not sure, i bought it off the auctions and it said that it was for a k11 lsd box. so i assumed it was so. however when it came i noticed that the passenger side had the abs cog on the outer joint but the drivers side didnt. i wonder if this has anything to do with it? nz_aj are you able to source any from nz? are you able to get me one? i called nissan today, and they are probably able to get just the inner joint, but they can no longer get the whole cv. i hope they can graft the right inner cv to the existing shaft.

Are you sure its the incorrect shaft?

The one with the twin splines on it is a bitch to install.
You have to basically wrestle with it to install the first spline, then rotate the shaft again and keep pushing in further to get the second spline to mesh. Then you will feel a definite CLUNK and its in properly.

But one having an ABS sensor and the other not, is a bit of a worry..

You got a photo??? More info..

im going to try and get pics. all the pics are on my other computer that has just fried after a blackout. the drivers side cv inner nose is too long im sure. looking through from the other side, it looks as if the nose is pushing against the pin thingy on the lsd. if you look at the nose of the inner cv's in this pic they look as if they are different lengths, the passenger side being longer.

The box you've described is an RS5F31V. As far as I remember, the drivers side inner CV is the same, V or A.
It's highly likely that an australian sold N12, N13, N14, N15 with a E15ET or GA16 or CA18/CA18 (i.e. cars with the RS5F31A) will have the same spline count & half shaft diameter.
Some Australian sold N13 had the RS5F31V, maybe others, so if I'm wrong about the V & A being the same, you can at least ask your parts suppliers about those.

If the outer CV's didn't match, are you sure the whole drivers side half shaft & inner CV is the right one?

Out of interest, what is the min/max length of the assembled drivers side CV's & half shaft from your original RS5F30A vs what you have been supplied for your RS5F31V? Measure between the base of the outer CV stub shaft and the spring ring on the inner CV stub shaft as shown in picture.
How do the diameters & spline counts compare?

I would never buy a CV from Nissan (or Repco). We get much better prices from driverline specialists. In NZ I'd be talking to ADL.
