carburettor problem

hi there Micra lovers. I'm new to this forum and have a lovely red 1988 micra:wow: k10, but recently it has developed this carburettor problem: if I press the accelerator pedal more than just a little bit (I guess to where the second barrel opens?) it seems to 'stick' wide open and rushes away and won't slow down, so I have to switch the ignition off! Any ideas?
