Car sluggish and burning electrical smell

My wifes 2001 facelift K11 has suddenly started to smell of electrical burning and this morning she said the car was sluggish pulling away and when she parked it up there was a great deal of clicking coming from the front of the car. Could this be a seized caliper or clutch problem?, car seems to drive fine no pulling to one side or clutch slipping. I thought the smell was just down to me being a bit over zealous with the alloy wheel seal and tyre shine stuff at the weekend getting onto the discs and calipers. Booked it into the Nissan dealers for tomorrow, if its clutch how much does that cost to replace?
