Car Range Monitor

I own a 2003 Nissan Micra K12 1.2 SE and I have replaced the head unit for a double din unit. For this I had to take out the computer at the top of the stereo which told me how much range I have left in my fuel, mpg, etc. My question is that is there any sort of monitors or screens I can get to plug the unused cable that was in the computer into a screen or dial of some sort. Also, if not would a newer set of clocks (the ones with the range built in) be compatible with my current car as I have the older clocks or would it be a hassle calibrating and setting them in, etc.

I'd say some sort of OBD2-reader like an MPGuino or maybe a bluetooth ELM327 adapter would be the easiest and most readily available way to get that data.
