hmm how slow im i? good point Stani mate.. apologies, its been a long day, well it hasnt but im sticking with that excuse :p

One for the power steering, basically used so the engine revs up a little when you turn the wheels. The other one i forget what it does but i think it's abs unit or aircon. Thats the very early style electrics with the 3rd fusebox on the drivers inner wing, it's the best version to work on in my opinion because it's all laid out nice and simple.

as porkpie said, one near master cylinder is for the PAS oil pressure sensor and one beside the wheel arch is for the f/r ABS sensor

Your faulty lights will more than likely be due to the usual melted fuse in the small fusebox in front of the battery. The connector/plug to the headlamp fuse tends to melt and makes the lights act up. It's common fault and to fix it, the little connectors to the affected fuse just need new ones crimping on. Easy job, just fiddly because the big trunk of wires gets in the way.
