Automatic Transmission

Hello everybody!

Could anybody on this Forum tell me what is the difference between a 'Standard' Automatic Transmission and a CVT?

Secondly, I would also like to know what kind of Oil does Nissan recommend for the Automatic Transmission of the Micra / March?

I own a beautiful 1997/98 Nissan March 998cc(Japanese domestic model)The automatic gear stick also has an over-drive button which if disengaged, a light shows up in the meter cluster. I am planning to change the oil & filter of the automatic transmission.

Is there nobody out there who knows the difference between a normal 'Standard' automatic transmission and a CVT?

hi peter

a normal autobox has a number of gears that are selected automatically, but a cvt has a (usually steel, i think) belt that gives a constantly variable gear ratio.
the k11 uses normal atf oil (red) and also has a metal powder clutch that is engaged by magnetism
