Any advice on removing this?

Hi sports club, I have this rock solid hardened epoxy putty on my car (a well meant repair but completely the wrong thing)

1. This is stopping a leak will it last if I leave it it place?
2. If I want to take it off how do I do so without causing loads of damage. Imagine I’ll need to repaint.

Thanks

I use a variable speed Andle Grinder with a high speed knotted wire brush wheel fitted to remove any unused or excess filler, you will need a mask and goggles for protection, If it is not causing any problems then put some steel Auto paint to cover over the filler.

Thank you the outside is no bother (despite not being meant for auto repair) but the inside has dings in it exposing metal so want to remove and protect.

Heat. Hair dryer might be enough but a hot air gun would be better. Then scrappy scrape scrape.
Thank you would the heat gun cause any damage to the paint or metal? Think I have one somewhere. This particular 2 part epoxy says it’s heat resistant up to 130c though!

Doesn't need to melt it just warm it enough to delamination from the steel. It might blister the paint I'm afraid.

Acetone is the other option. Would need to be stronger solution than nail polish remover but it might be worth a try with a dribble if you have any laying around.

Protect surrounding paint if you are using a high strength acetone.

Got a new lesson today, using aside down can of spray air to freeze the epoxy then a gentle tap saw it break apart. Was rather impressed by how well it worked. Suggested it might work better with a tin of pipe freeze.
