air conditioning radiator

hi guys

ive managed to get my hands on an air con radiator as mines is leaking however, i asked the seller if it had a gaurantee just incase it was leaking and he replied that he has removed the radiator with the gas still inside the radiator so its not leaking ..... does the gas still stay inside radiator if it has been remopved from car?

hes charging £37 for air con radiator delivered!!!!

regards me

LOL, no in order to remove the condenser rad you have to de-pressurise the system. I think what he meant was the system was still pressurised before he removed the condenser rad, therefore it was not leaking. So in answer to your question, no it doesn't stay inside the rad when removed, it may however still have some lubricant inside.

I have to replace mine this year due to a leak and personally I wouldn't get anything other than a new one, then I know where it's been and that it is also clean and free from contaminants and dirt, which could lead to compressor issues.

hi

when i get my new air con radiator, can someone tell me the procedure for removing and replacing etc... i know i will have to get it regassed but will i need a full service done on the air con ie. lubricants, vaccumn testing, seals, gas etc...

im hoping for a straight replacement but i know its never as simple as ABC

also can someone recommend a good place for regassing etc... in scotland north lanarkshire area or near glasgow?

regards me

You may be better off getting a price from an air-con specialist for the whole job.
They will probably get a better price than you on the condensor, so it may not cost you any/much more than buying and fitting the part yourself.

Try your yellow pages, etc if no one else can recommend a place.
Kwikfit do a regas for around £40 but do not do any repairs
