Air compressors

i'm looking to buy an air compressor, specificaly for spraying. was wondering what power compressor would be best suited. have been looking at a 2hp one.

3hp is the max for single phase iirc

ive seen 5hp single phase motors, there was one on my dads old saw bench.

i think a 5hp motor would have to be wired into the ringmain
and i think 3hp is the max for a 13a (house type) plug
