Accessing the heater switch bulbs

Hello all,

So I tried to take out the centre panel around the radio and heater to replace two bulbs that are gone but no luck. I removed all screws, bottom and footwell panels and ashtray. The bottom of the panel was loose but the top was tight.

I checked the Haynes manual and it says to prise the top with a plastic lever. Can anyone confirm this?

yes, just a bit of brute force needed at the top

Got the damn thing out finally!

Still can't figure out how to access the bulbs on either the back window defog button or behind the heater dials. Do I need to completely disconnect the heater?

Finally got the damn thing out and the bulb changed. Now I just need to figure out the defog switch.
