52 K11 Micra heater works on 1, 3 and 4, but not on 2! Is this the usual card failing, or the switch itself?

More than likely one of the resistors on the card has blown.
You can pick them up new cheap enough. Not worth going to scrappies as they'll be pretty old anyway.

How weird, It's red on my laptop. Must be different colours in other browsers.Did not see that as a link (blue) as you say worth a shout at that price. Good one.

I suppose anything that passes high current, but acts as a resistor, will overheat and burn-out eventually.
They should have located the resistor card inline with the cold air flow of the ventilation system.
