A change of gearbox oil

I changed the oil in the gearbox today, I noted a change is due at 54K miles, mine had done 53K.

Tha oil looked really good that came out so I didn't expect to notice any difference, how wrong I was, the gear-change before was best described as a bit sticky, you had to fairly robust when changing gear. Now it is much slicker, without that stickiness.

Well worth the effort and glad I did it.

Hmm I doubt mine has ever been done, hard job? Will be in Haynes Manual right?

Pretty easy, yes in Haynes.

1/2 square for the drain plug, I used a 3/8 square on the fill/level hole, although it might be 10mm square, both were very tight.

rigged up a pipe onto a funnel for filling.

I thought the gearbox oil was 'Life Long' as in, it doesnt need changing? I was tempted to change mine a while back, but I didnt end up doing it
