Problem started recently, and is intermittent. Car will slip into neutral without warning while driving and in the 'D' position. Selecting '2' or 'L' doesn't make a difference.
When it first started to happen, the car wouldn't shift out of 1st gear.
The only way I have found to resolve this is to pull over, turn the car off, wait ten seconds, turn the car on, and I can drive away again. After this, the car drives quite normal for the remainder of the drive.
I've checked fluid level in the transmission and it is pink and clear and at the correct levels.
The car has always been serviced by the dealer prior, but since they tried to bill me $2,500 USD for an evaporator for my air conditioning when all it needed was gassing up, I have tried to make any interaction with them minimal.
I'd appreciate any light you guys here can shed on my problem.
