For naturally aspirated builds 2" is the most you'll ever need.

For most 2" will also suffice for turbo builds, as there aren't many who push for big power. If you were aiming for a performance build and looking to pushing through 200bhp and beyond then I would say 2.5" would suffice.

and the turbo acts as a silencer to some extent too

Was thinking about making a sideexit without any silencers.... wonder how loud that will be? ummmm haha

My 1.0 wasn't too loud with a straight pipe out the side, it just doesn't sound nice. I have a straight pipe with a cherrybomb centrebox welded to the end and it's little quieter but sounds much nicer.

Im thinking about exiting the exhaust in front of the drivers rear wheel where the normal exhaust bend and goes back the the back box.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but is this referring to the whole exhaust system or just the back box exit pipe size?

Whole system..... I'd opt for a 2" to start with and if needed enlarge it at a later date

yeah im going to make an exhaust and have a side exit in front of the drivers rear wheel.
