1998 K11 ECU swap between 1.0 and 1.3?

ECU light flashing when key is inserted, and not starting.
Exactly the same symptoms in fact as if a key with no transponder is used.
When it does this, turning off and on several dozen times (without trying to start) eventually clears it, and it stops flashing, and works again.
It does this rarely - once every several months.

To clarify - I mean to change the keys at the same time.

Doesn't the NATS identity of the car 'live' in the ECU?

NATS identity is within the ECU, I had problems with my NATS. NATS was randomly immobilising my vehicle whilst driving.

I went from a 1 to a 1.3 engine, and the problem consisted. In the end my mate wired in a NON NATS ECU. NATS is still there but the ECU doesn't look for it so everything works fine!!

I don't know of anyone else running a NON NATS ECU on a NATS Micra!

Unfortunately not.
I tried this - and it seemed to behave no differently from turning it off and back on. It still takes (when it's doing it) several dozen attempts to get it to work.

Also - the price on ebay for ECUs seems to be similar to the price that nissan'd want to register the key, and I'd need to buy a new key as I've only got one working one at the moment.
If I can find one on ebay/breakers with a couple of keys, that'd work.
