I'd say either would be fine, I've had each in my engine over the last few years (55 plate 1.5 dci k9k)

I usually just get what's on offer as long as I recognise the name on the label 
Ive used halford own most times but last year I had mazda oil and this year put in asda own brand, never had any issues.
I only change my oil once a year, if you do alot of miles every 6 months would be better
