Wiils Mk2 Golf Tidy and Restore (winter car prehaps?)

here how it is when i got it last night towing it home...

simply added 6litres of petrol.... fresh battery and it started! after pumped up tires drove it around the block to make sure the brakes work! woo they do! so hitched it up to my Mums VW bora to tow it home with the tow rope slung around the wishbone not seeing the tow hook hidden under some stupid cover under the bumper!

plans for now are to get it into fully working standard with new fluids, filters, plugs etc! and go bad with linseed and matt black!

will be slow progress

thats virtually the plan anyway lol maybe some lows or whatever i was thinking maybe a winter car lol stops the micra from seeing them horible roads!

essentially this is going to be more of a restoration job but i think ill use it as a winter car so my car doesnt see that snow and salt etc etc

and take the micra off road over the winter months

it needs a proper inspection! new pads and disks...

new fluids all round
new filters
new plugs
rust areas patching up!
ruddy good clean!
see what else may need tweeking and then sling it for an MOT and see what needs doing

but as i said with JAE coming up i havent had a chance to even look at it properly!

well at the end of the day ive dugeted myself £200 for it to be on the road not including the mot and tax!

if i were to insure it at the same time as my micra on admirial its £900 on top of my premium which adds up to about £2036!

so the only option instead of having it laying about for a few years till it becomes affordable to have both is to swap them over!


i must admit there is one engine problem i have well maybe 2! loud tappety noise been told there hydraulic! (maybe needs new oil lol)

and it doent idle very well when warm! most probably the carb needs cleaning and ill see once ive changed fluids, plugs, filters etc will probably clean it out!

spare key has been cut! as there wasnt much life in the original one as it was slightly bent! shame though it has an amazingly cool top half!

yeah it is!

well finally moved the golf into the garage yesterday! the tow rope knocked the tow eye cover off and it got run over! i tried to signal my dad to stop but he didnt :down::down::down::down::down:

put in £15 of petrol at the petrol station and then took it through the car wash on super! nice and clean and it survived!

then here she is all tucked away in the garage!

it really doesnt idle when hot! so maybe some redex and carb cleaner will work some magic!
