I got 1.4 which is clean (no rust) and am planning to keep it for a long time. I have broken 2 sensors (oil and crank speed sensors on both boxes:mad:) when I was changing the gearbox. The car drives but it doesnt feel right. I am struggling to get replacements unless I buy a whole new auto box...

I celebrated a bit too early....central lock works fine with all the doors except the boot.......back to scrapyard for a boot lock then:mad:

Update All sorted now. previous owner unplugged central locking unit which was hidden behind the fuse box under the drivers side dashboard, I guess the driver side actuator was faulty and was unlocking then locking that the previous owners just disconnected the CLU:mad:. reconnected the CLU...

Car was on a drive for a while but now back on the road, I still have the above noise problem, it must be something to do with gear ratio...the higher the speed, the noise gets louder, it feels like the box is stuck on gear2 I have also noticed with the car being on D (drive) it doesn't move...

The pic was only for details, it wasn't mine. I have managed to put both belts on today, soaked penetrating oil on all the bolts last night, a bit of force today and the tensioner moved to allow the belt to slip in.....who would have thought drive belts could be this hard lol? Thanks...

yeah that is the one...........slackened it all the way too that is why am a bit lost why it hasnt got a bit of play but will have a go at it tomorrow

I have loosened the tensioner bolt and the nut that holds the pulley in place once you tensioned it

nice one Agent_Sm1th, I compared the belt to the old one and it is exactly the same, the tensioner should have some play (after loosening both bolts) and move slightly to allow the belt to slide in right? this one isn't budging, I will have another go at it tomorrow.

you mean the long tightening bolt right? I loosened it all the way back.

Hi all, After spending the last 2 hours trying to put the water pump belt on without any luck, am here asking your tricks/tips, the car has no A/C and PS so it should be simple straight forward, right? wrong.... so how do you turn 2 hour mission into a 5 minute job? attached is the closest...
