Changed battery and now the key won't turn in the ignition

You appear to have listed nearly all of the pragmatic DIY options & may I suggest using a liquid spray on penetrating lubricant into the lock & trying the spare key, that is a less worn key blade if you can get the troublesome key blade out of the mechanical ignition switch steering lock? Good...

    Another leaky micra

The K12 roof trims hide the roof & side body panel joints & are retained by locating lugs, one each, at the front & also at the rear extreme ends. Removal is easily achievable with the use of two out of date credit/bank cards etc to prise the trims out in the middle of said trims. Once the...

    spark plugs

Just changed my 1998 1300cc K11 standard NGK plugs after seven years & 30K miles runabout use & they still looked fine even under detail gap measurement & magnifying glass examination! The vehicle seems to start & perform just the same with no discernible change between the old and or new plugs...

    rotten drivers side sill

Rain water can run down inside the A,B & C pillars from the roof gutter joints & from the windscreen seals against the A pillar. Roof gutter joints are hidden under the two plastic full length roof trims where corrosion holes plus weld seam sealants dry out & can decay into micro cracks, with...

    K12 wheel bearing life

The UKs Third World standard pot hole infested now virtually unmaintained roads combined with a hard throttle & brake driving style puts additional load stress on front & rear wheel bearings & suspension shortening its design economic useful life cycle. ;)

Micra K12 Wheels and Tyres - Experiences from yourself?

With the UKs Third World standard pot hole infested unmaintained roads, standard size steel wheels are more rugged less prone to damage & fit in the spare wheel recess, unlike over size alloys/ tyres. Steady as you go is quicker & cheaper in this case. ;)

K11 can they take E10 petrol?

Have been running my 1998 1300cc K11 ( 66K ) on cheap supermarket E10 since it was available (years) & it appears to run the same as it ever did & starts instantly as always? I never needed to change petrol flexible hoses or adjust the ignition timing from when it was new, & it never pinks...

K12 1.0 exhaust gasket and beyond

After detail inspection, if the manifold is crack free then it is normally reusable after joint face clean up. Same applies to the catalyst & its joint faces. I use DIY paint scrapers to remove old gasket materials & check joint faces level/alignment on a flat surface. A few hours DIY graft...

Car dealers & MOT testers are mates who all know each other in your area & thus MOTs can be issued at “mates rates”! Perhaps that’s how it has apparently passed its MOT. Best solution is to put it down to experience & simply get it repair welded elsewhere or complaining at the MOT tester may...
