Impact didn't work, but the impact bit and a hammer was solid enough to free the bolt which seemed to be welded on! I made sure I anti siezed the new ones.

There is no tensioning idlers at all on the second facelift 1.0's. For the alternator belt, there's an adjustment mechanism on the alternator so the alternator itself sets the tension. I think I can see a tensioner bolt on the back of the PAS pump, similar to the one on the alternator but I'd...

Replaced wiper blades and alternator belt. Didn't have the tools to get the PAS / water pump belt off. It needed it!

I half replaced the drive belts today. The alternator belt was easy, but the water pump / PAS belt I couldn't get off. The face lifts don't have an idler tensioner. I THINK I can see a tension adjuster on the back of the PAS pump, but not too sure and I didn't have a spanner that could get to it...

I'm pretty sure the law changes a few years ago stating that if the car came out of the factory with a cat, it needs a cat to pass. It used to be that as long as it passed emissions you would be fine. Pretty sure anything pre 1993 doesn't require a cat at all but that's not much use to Micra...
